Interior Remodel: Should I Stay or Should I Go?

Interior Remodel: Should I Stay or Should I Go?

A common dilemma to face at the start of an interior remodel is should you remain in your house while the remodeling takes place? Or should you stay elsewhere throughout the project?

When completing an interior remodel, there will be many things on your mind; some have nothing to do with the remodel itself. For instance, a common dilemma to face at the start of an interior remodel is should you remain in your house while the remodeling takes place? Or should you stay elsewhere throughout the project? There are pros and cons to both choices, and there may be some things you haven’t thought about yet!

What Part Is Being Renovated?

This is perhaps the most significant piece of information to help figure out if you should stay in during the interior remodel or not. Is the kitchen being remodeled? Maybe the living room or a bathroom? Kitchens are typically used every day and are a big part of being at home. If your kitchen is being remodeled, look into other ways to dine in at home or simply consider staying elsewhere with the amenity available to you. On the other hand, living rooms do not often require usage every day. Therefore, simply staying out of that area while remodeling occurs is easy. If you are remodeling a bathroom be sure to factor in the timeline and what things can impact that timeline. Homes have more than one bathroom, which if one is being worked on, the others can help you make do for a period.

Cost and Budget

If you are planning to stay elsewhere during the interior remodel, be sure to consider the costs associated with outside lodging. Not everyone has nearby friends or family members that can welcome you into their homes for some time. It is crucial to plan and build lodging costs into your budget for the entire remodeling. That way, you won’t get blindside by monetary obstacles. Deciding on lower cost remodeling plans can help save money that can be used toward outside lodging.

Health and Safety

One important thing to consider is the safety of the occupants in the house. Small children and adults with health issues may be more susceptible to construction-related activities. This might provide a health concern and might even prompt the remodeler to recommend the occupants find lodging elsewhere for the duration of the interior remodel. Many of these health concerns arise from toxic air particles or paint fumes.
